Sandbach School Big Band and Caxixi
On Monday 17th October the Sandbach School Big Band will delighted to perform in concert with the fantastic Latin Jazz Band ‘Caxixi’. The group features a stellar line up of musicians including Mike Hamnett (Percussion with The Lion King West End), Rob Buckland (Saxophone with Michael Nyman Band & senior RNCM tutor), Andy Scott (SaxAssult & RNCM tutor), Paul Newton (Trumpet with Brand New Heavies & Billy Elliot West End), Sophie Hastings (Head of Drum Kit, Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, performed with Gary Barlow), Bryan Hargreaves (Senior Drum Tutor BIMM Institute, performed with John Legend), Adam Kovacs (Percussionist with Thriller Live, performed with George Ezra) and Ollie Collins (Bass tutor at RNCM, recorded with Danni Minogue and New Order),
The freewheeling 9-piece latin jazz group will present a heady mixture of Son, Songo, Mambo and Salsa with a programme featuring works by Tito Puente, Ed Calle and Mario Bauza that will be sure to get your feet tapping.
The first half of the concert will feature the Sandbach School Big Band who in recent years has worked with many of the country’s leading musicians including; Georgie Fame; Derek Watkins; Simon Willescroft (Saxophonist with Duran Duran); Gordon Campbell (Lead trombone BBC Big Band); Elliot Henshaw (Drummer with Tony Christie); Paul Newton (Trumpet with Brand New Heavies and the ‘Billy Elliot’ West End Show) Colin Skinner (lead Alto John Wilson Orchestra) and Kevin Holbrough (Jazz tutor, Leeds College of Music). In addition, they have been finalists at the National Festival of Music for Youth, undertaken tours of Berlin, New England USA, Istanbul, Singapore and New Zealand and given a performance to two thousand people at the Primary Proms Concert at Chester Cathedral.
This special concert will start at 6.30pm on Monday 17th October in our Theatre Space. Refreshments will be available at the interval and tickets are £8 each
