NPO at the Albert Hall - October 2017
Beethoven - Symphony No 5
Strauss - Horn Concerto No 2
Nielsen - Symphony No 5
We open our season with two of the greatest symphonies in Western music, both celebrating the potential and triumph of the human spirit. Danish composer Carl Nielsen's fifth symphony takes us on a profound journey, from its nebulous opening through doubt, striving and anger to the hard-won glory of its close. An epic journey and a true masterpiece. Our soloist in Richard Strauss' warmly romantic second horn concerto is 2016 BBC Young Musician finalist Ben Goldscheider.
- Ben Goldscheider (French Horn)
