The GCO returns to the West End Festival after its highly successful 2016 60th anniversary concert of works by Shostakovich. 2019 proves no less a spectacle, with an enlarged orchestra playing an exciting programme of Borodin Polovtsian Dances, a cello concerto played byt he winner of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Cello competition (tbc) and Rimsky-Korsakov's epic tone poem Scheherezade.

Winner of the RCS Cello Concerto Competition, to be held in December 2018, will perform either Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations or the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No. 1.
