Event Details

Amicus Orchestra makes a welcome return to St Mary's Cathedral this November to perform a programme of Weber, Sibelius & Cresswell under the dynamic direction of Christopher George.

Lyell Cresswell's Clarinet Concerto 'Llanto' (Weeping) was originally commissioned by the SCO in 2017 and was dedicated to the distinguished clarinettist Maximiliano Martín. We are very pleased to be joined by Maxi for this concert to pay tribute to the life and legacy of this much-loved and respected man.

We are delighted to perform the glorious 3rd symphony by Sibelius - another masterpiece from the land of the midnight sun. With contrasting moods; light and dark, both brooding and joyful, Sibelius symphony is full of Nordic charm.

Weber: Euryanthe Overture
Lyell Cresswell: Clarinet Concerto ‘Llanto’
Sibelius: Symphony No 3
